I just finished reading
the first book of Beyonders series, which of course I got it by complete
accident due to my chaotic nephew. So we went to NBS to buy my school
stuff,-notebooks, pens, rulers, etc. - you know the works, me and my ‘phew
quickly went to the book section and casually asked one of my saleslady friends
if they have THE THRONE OF FIRE [which rather makes me frustrated but more
about that later] she said no so I was, like, um okay and decided to buy the
Beyonders which of course was intriguing me a lot since it was recommended by
Rick Riordan then when I went to mum who was finished paying my school things
there was BEYONDERS in the freaking purchases, I asked mum why and she said
Basti told her that I wanted that book. I almost pinched the little brat, WHAT
IF THERE WAS A THRONE OF FIRE? Ugh. Good thing I was planning to buy it anyway.

Name: Beyonders: A World without Heroes by Brandon
Mull.
·
My Random Simplified Summary: Dude named Jason who was
summoned by suicidal band meets Rachel into the epic world of Lyrian and are
forced to find the syllables of THE WORD to save the world of Lyrian from
eternal damnation.
·
GOOD REVIEW: Made me learn about more than 15 new words.
It was written in a funny and ironic manner. If it had a recipe it would be
HUNGER GAMES MIXED WITH MR. MULL’S SECRET INGREDIENT WITH A HINT OF KANE
CHRONICLES, A DASH OF 39 CLUES AND A PINCH OF PERCY JACKSON. I know, I don’t
have a thing for magic[er-KANE CHRONICLES IS NOT ALL MAGIC, IT’S MYTHOLOGY] but
this people is an exception. The characters are awesome even the antagonist.
It’s kinda amazing actually, how it had a certain twist in the end and The END
was totally CRAZY AND UNEXPECTED, WANTING YOU TO READ MORE.
·
BAD REVIEW: BE WARNED WHEN READING THIS PLEASE KEEP A
DICTIONARY HANDY OR JUST USE CONTEXT CLUES [much simpler] especially if you’re
not a wide reader and such. It has a lot of deep and not-so-common words in it
which will be hard for kids under the age of ten. Disturbing parts like a giant
crab slicing a boarhound into two, lots of blood[ BUT IF YOU’VE READ THE HUNGER
GAMES THEN THIS IS COMPLETELY JUVENILE] and lots of fights.
·
BOOK QUOTE: “She was shorter than Corinne and not
bad-looking. What were these pretty girls doing in a swamp?”- Jason Walker, pg.
346.
·
OVERALL SCORE: 9.2[ minus 3 for deep words and 5 for
gruesome scenes]
After I finished reading
it, I got a headache. SO back to the Throne of Fire, you know how I said I was
frustrated? Let me tell you why. So it was Tuesday, after I had brunch with mum
I tiptoed toward NBS ready to buy Throne of Fire when I arrived there I saw a
boy holding the last one. I had two plans:
a.)
Shove the boy and
get the book, buy it and run toward the nearest exit.
b.)
Walk away and be
forever haunted by my LOSERNESS.
So I had to go to plan A
but the boy’s mum was already there and I CAN’T SHOVE SOMEONE WITH THEIR MUM
THERE, CAN I? I stuck with plan B. SO I’m here praying they would be another
delivery pronto cause it’s really aggravating me. Currently reading the Talent Thief
